Last day of May...& a note about Joplin, MO

Time is flyin'...
This is the May layout of the Canvas Corp Calendar sample that
I made.  I just love how simple this one turned out!
I cut the top parts of the Canvas Mini Heart Shapes to create the
scalloped border around the butterfly.
 This is an angle to show the dimension.
The black tag is actually "chalkstock" and can be written & erased like
an actual blackboard.  On this tag I wrote with a permanent marker.
 Canvas Corp sells blank calendar grids, I just made the title part and stamped the numbers in.
 I just have to say that my thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been suffering through these horrible tornadoes this year.  A lot of the storms were so close to us.  One night the sirens went off around 5 times, we were exhausted with the anxiety of the unknown path of these massive storms.

About 550 men from our church went up and served the people of Joplin this past weekend.  They organized themselves into teams and were able to help a lot of people.  I was so happy that my husband, Bill, was able to go up for 2 days, it was a very humbling sight.  My brother and 2 brother-in-laws were up there also.  They saw the devastation first hand and the pictures cannot show what it really looks like.  They heard so many heart-wrenching stories of what these people went through.  If you can donate either your time or money to help where you can...please do so!
All of the men from our church wore yellow shirts.  My brother-in-law, Steven, happened to make it on ABC Nightly News last Saturday.  While they were filming him working he happened to hit his finger with a hammer and he was looking at it like "ouch"...:)

Inspired by...

Where has this week gone...I am late posting my inspiration of the week that I have found.

I love porch swings!  I would love one, along with nice weather, to relax on.
When I was little, my family had a southern style front porch and we would get
swinging on the swing pretty good and then "fly" off...those were the good ol' days!
{this photo from Southern Living}
One Swinging Season
I have been seeing a lot of big, long pillows for couches around, like this one from Southern Living.
I just love this flower that Rhonna Farrer shared on her blog HERE.  Anything that Rhonna makes/designs I just adore!
Jen from Craft-O-Maniac shows how she made these fun Chevron Earrings on her blog {click here}.
I saw this on Just Beachy blog...I want one!
Did you see her feature in the Easy Decorating Magazine?  I bought one the other day and noticed that it was Chris from Just Beachy blog that I love to find inspiration from her!
I want to eat some of this from Fudge Ripple blog {watermelon with mint and feta} on a porch swing...doesn't that sound good?!
Enjoy your weekend!

Flowers in my yard...

Can I just tell you how much I love it when my flowers bloom, well I do!!

This is only a small section of my Peony bush.  Last year I only had about 4 blooms, this year about 20!!
 I think this is a Glamis Castle rose...I love it no matter what its name is!
 I just wish that these deep purple flowers would bloom all summer!!
 My light pink rose bush produces one hot pink rose, I just love how it stands out!
Enjoy your spring day!

Spring Banner Wall Hanging

I made this wall hanging using Canvas Corp's 18"x18" Burlap Stretched Canvas, a perfect size for designing with the Canvas shapes.

Materials Used:
Canvas Corp: 18"x18" Burlap Stretched Canvas
Canvas Triangle Shapes
Canvas mini Hearts {the bottom was cut off and saved for another project}
2"x2" Stretched Canvases
e-flute
corkstock
1 Canvas Mini Triangle
1Canvas Mini Tag
Brights Pattern Paper Collection
Mini Clothespins
Twine
DecoArt: Paints colors: Turquoise Sparkle & Lemon Drop {Glamour Dust},
Peony Pink, Hauser Light Green,
SoSoft Fine Glitter Ice Crystal
Crystal Stickers Mark Richards: Bling
Cosmo Cricket: Tiny Type letter Stickers
Beacon Adhesives: Fabrictac
Other: Accu-cut die for the birds and label

For the scalloped border, I cut the bottom half of a Canvas mini heart shape and attached it all around to frame the pennants.
The great thing about this project is that each pennant can have is its own personality.
The key is to add layers of product for the dimension factor!
You can't go wrong with a tiny pennant on a pennant!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Kate's Birthday Decor...{photo heavy}

So, it has only been about a month ago since Kate's birthday...
now I am finally posting about the whole thing.
I am a photo procrastinator on this one!

This was actually set up in my living room {for a while} until
I can do the photo shoot.  I also had to make a new set of cupcakes
to take this picture.
I covered my craft table with a canvas drop cloth.
 I used Canvas Corp Round canvas shapes and cut them in half for this scalloped edge.
Then it was easy to add the banners and butterflies.  I thought of painting the scallops, but
I thought it would be better to keep it neutral to use for other occasions.
{2 of the butterflies are made out of Canvas Corp Corkstock}

 Would you believe that when I was taking these pictures it was storming outside?
It was pitch black. I had my boys holding lamps up for light on the side.
 Who doesn't love a great vintage scale in a tablescape?  :)
 This is a tiered shelf from Kate's room that I altered a little by adding some
embellishments.  I used all Canvas Corp patterned paper.
 I thought that it would be fun to have Kate's hands on canvas.  I used a 10"x10" Canvas Corp canvas and DecoArt paints {bahama blue and peony pink}.
 A great keepsake...
I just love using the mini clothespins to attach everything {Canvas Corp}.

  A top view of the Cupcake stand.  Canvas Corp's blank cupcake stands are soooo easy to alter.  I used Beacon Adhesive Fabric Tac to attach everything...and it works awesome.
{to buy a cupcake stand, click here}
 It is hard to tell in this picture but I used DecoArt SoSoft fine glitter paint {ice crystal}
on the canvas mini triangle.

Materials Used:
Canvas Corp:
  Burlap Fabric Sheet, corkstock, mini clothespins, bright patterned paper line, Canvas Round shapes,   Canvas & burlap mini shapes, Cupcake Stand, 10"x10" stretched canvas, mini bags, twine, mesh

Deco Art:
  Bahama Blue, Peony Pink, SoSoft Ice Crystal

Cosmo Cricket:
  Tiny Type stickers

American Crafts:
  Ribbon, thickers

Enjoy your day!
