A simple project...

A while back I won a vinyl saying "Family is Everything" from House of Smith's blog.  You will have to go check out her blog, she makes amazing projects!  I have been going through my craft room and found a thin piece of canvas.  I painted it black, then applied the vinyl.  I used my crop-a-dile hole punch to punch holes and thread the ribbon through!
Easy, Easy!

Have a great weekend!

Christmas Stuff

This Christmas Season I thought that I could just get rid of most of my Christmas decor and start fresh and new.  I have had most of my decor for the 15 years that Bill and I have been married and they are getting a little worn, plus I am getting board of the same ol' stuff.  This month, even though it is just the first, is already bringing on new change for our family.  I am trying not to feel overwhelmed with what will be on our family's "plate".  I guess that my idea of starting over on our Christmas decor will have to wait until next year.

Until then...I will just get on Pinterest and DREAM!!

Do I have time to make something like this?  {source}

A Christmas Banner is a staple in the decor department...right!? {source}

What an easy way to dress up a mantle or table! {source}

Seriously...how cute is this!  I think this would be fun to make with the kids.

Fabric...

So, I wasn't one of the brave ones fighting the crowds for Black Friday deals...I just sat in the "quiet" of my own home and got a great deal on fabrics from Fabric.com.  They are having a special coupon code that you can save up to 30% off.  Let's just say that I saved $60!

This is a sample of the fabric that I ordered!  I am sooooo excited to work on the projects that I have been dreaming up in my head.

The Navy Chevron will be new drapes for my living room and the navy floral in the bottom corner will be in our eat-in kitchen area. You can see both of those windows at the same time, so I figured to go with the same color scheme would be good.
The brown and white geometric pattern one is for my master bathroom drapes, the walls in there are a light spa blue.
{Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, Heather Bailey, Premier Prints, Robert Allen}

The green oval & red chevron are for Christmas projects.  The others are for pillows and random projects around the house.

Hopefully I will get it soon while I am in the mood to "sew".

I hope that you had a wonderful day!

Good Luck!

And here is what I did with Canvas Corp and myStamp BOX’s products:

I used the Road Trip stamp set and I thought of a Day Road Trip that we made last year to the zoo with the kids.

I started out by using Canvas Corp 12″x12″ sewn burlap fabric page as my “foundation”. I took colors from the picture and used Canvas Corp Chocolate & Ivory Zebra, Green & Ivory Dot, Green & Ivory Swirl & Orange & White Dot papers. Canvas Corp offers Canvas in a fabric sheet, so I cut a small rectangle out and cut slits down one side and frayed it a little. I matted the picture using burlap and patterned papers. Then I stamped “Road Trip” myStamp Box stamps and layered it on Canvas Corp e-flute kraft paper. I used Canvas Corp kraft scalloped tag and stamped a postal stamp on it and layered that with another stamp that was a tag shape. I inked all of the edges of everything with Vintage Photo from Ranger Ink. My favorite adhesive to use is Fabri-Tac from Beacon Adhesive, it does perfectly to attach the burlap & fabric to papers.
Now it’s time to HOP along and find out what the next talented designer has created. Your next designer is Marsha Valk(http://marshavalk.wordpress.com/) . Don’t forget to leave a comment below for a chance to WIN one of our TWO product giveaways!”

Mini Gratitude Banner

I have been thinking a lot lately of how grateful I am for so much! One of them being able to play with Canvas Corp products. I thought this would be a fun interactive banner to have my family be a part of. It is the simple things, with just thinking of one thing a day it is amazing how the simple things can bring us so much gratitude!
{details below}
I doubled up the twine for a little more stability, I am tempted to do a couple more strands across.
Each tag that is nestled in the mini bags have chalkstock tags, which makes it easy to erase and write a word each day.
With 3 boys in our family, of course we are thankful for Sports and Pizza! :)
Products Used:
Canvas Corp: Mini envelopes, Cork Pads, Chalkstock tags, Mini Canvas Shapes {Square and Round}, Red & Ivory mini dot, Chocolate & Ivory Stripe paper, Mini clothespins, twine.
Other: Ranger Ink {Vintage photo}, Crystal Stickers {Mark Richards}, Tiny Type words {Cosmo Cricket}.

Silhouette Christmas Advent Calendar and Canvas Corp

I had the absolute pleasure of working for the first time with the Silhouette CAMEO electronic cutting machine. I truly believe that it was sent from Scrapbook Heaven! It was so easy to work with and I love having the ability to customize anything through the software program. I will have to ask Santa for one this year!
We are excited to announce our special price of the Limited Edition Silhouette Christmas Advent Calendar Shadowbox for $29.99 when you use the code CANVAS at the checkout. (http://silhouetteamerica.com/adventCalendar.aspx)
Offer good from November 1st-11th, don’t miss out!
The shadowbox comes with a free download card to download all of the boxes and/or drawers, as well as the back shapes of the individual cubbies.
Silhouette asked me to make a Canvas Corp version using their shadowbox for an Advent Calendar, how can I refuse! I found that I was able to get familiar with the machine quickly. I think I was smiling the whole time I was designing for this project!

Scary Mini Banner

I made a quick 10-minute mini banner today.  It has seriously been one of those days with my 2-year old that I had to focus on something that was fast!  Mostly because Kate needs 24/7 surveillance, she is into everything! :)  I am trying to enjoy this season of having a 2-year old!

I just love Canvas Corp's Chalkstock tags, especially the triangle shaped one.
More information on how I made this mini banner HERE.

Have a wonderful Halloween!

Halloween Goodie Boxes

I made these Halloween Goodie Boxes this past summer for Canvas Corp's CHA Booth.  I just thought they were fun to make!
I made them using Canvas Corp’s Halloween papers that coordinate perfectly with our basic paper lines and an Accu-Cut die cutting system. Just had a few embellishments and it is done! The Halloween words were cut out of the word patterned paper and all of the edges of the papers were inked.
More info HERE.
Enjoy your day...

KC Temple and a Birthday Banner

Bill and I had a little "get-a-way" to Kansas City last week and we drove around to find the Kansas City LDS Temple that is still under construction.  It is gorgeous!  The details are amazing.  The windows have a really pretty turquoise color to them, like a patina.  They were working on the landscape and the parking lot the day we drove by.  This picture that I took doesn't do it justice of how beautiful it is!
 Today was one of my hubby's co-workers birthday.  As you can see...her name is Janet!  I tried to make it pretty simple, I used a paper pack of GCD paper.  I hope that she liked it.
 Side view of the banner. It is hard to tell, but the floral paper is flocked and the dot paper has a pretty sheen to it.
What is it about having a banner pinned up for a birthday celebration?  I don't know, but I hope to have one myself one of these day...I will probably have to make it myself! :)

Pinterest Finds...

I have found my new favorite blog:  Corner House blog.  Laura has some serious DIY going on.  If I had some extra time lying around between now and the 31st, I would make this...LOVE IT!!!

Button Necklace from etsy...sold :(  I would seriously wear this everyday!!  It also has a fall feel to it.
Pinned Image

My obsession with a white kitchen is still alive and well.  Instead of painting my kitchen cabinets for my birthday I ended up getting a new laptop instead...I know, I should've painted my cabinets.  One of these days!
What I love about this kitchen is the random pops of color, I would love to just hang out in this kitchen/dining area all day long!
found on:  A Life's Design blog {She has a lot of great inspiring pictures on her blog!}

Will do this...will do this...will do this...
Sharpie and a lampshade and there you go!!
A Little Glass Box blog has a lot of great ideas!

Yes, I want to make these also...the cheaper version of course!

There were so many amazing quotes from General Conference.  This is one that stood out to me.  I have only been texting for a year and it is so quick and convenient that I do have to be quick to be on my knees praying!!
On Skariann Blog, she has several other printables that she made up of quotes.

Enjoy...

Save the Date...October 31st pillow

Can I just tell you that I seriously have the best job!!!  I love working for a company like Canvas Corp that has fantastic products.  I had fun working on this Halloween project.  They sell several different sizes of pillow forms like this 10"x18" one.  I cut the Chalkstock in a fun shape and attached it to a pillow!!  You can change the words daily for fun.  I have a Chalk marker that erases easily with a wipe and it gives a cleaner look that just plain 'ol chalk.
For more details on how I made this, click HERE.

Enjoy your day!!

Pinterest Finds...

A Place for Us Blog has a tutorial on how to make these beautiful paper bag flowers!  In love and will make for sure!  I think they will be pretty using white bags also.
IMG_9185_1100

This one is actually from Pottery Barn, but it inspired us, in the Young Women's Presidency, to make chandeliers for our Young Women in Excellence program next month!  I am going to start punching out circles tonight, we are making 1 large one and 2 medium sized ones {332 circles for the large chandelier and 860 circles for the other 2!}  We decided to use shiny, silver wrapping paper from Hobby Lobby.  I can't wait to make them and take a picture of them to share.  I think that it will be fantastic for a wonderful night for the YW!!
Pinned Image
First of all, I would love to paint my piano white like this one and second...isn't this so awesome!  I love how she made the banner have several layers!  This is from Carina Gardner, she has PDF files to download on how she made this...I want to make this!!

I am inspired once again...now I will have to go and do!!
I have been still working on my purging of my home decor and etc.  I am sending them to the flea market to sell just in time for the craft fairs this weekend!  My house is starting to look bare...but it is a good thing!

Stuff for the Flea Market...

I am a collector of stuff...I admit it!  I have so many random picture frames that I have bought over the years {they are mostly from goodwill or really cheap-o}.  I am trying to purge my "collections" and sell them at the Flea Market {it really is more like a Boutique}.

I just got out some of my scrapbook supplies {that I also "collect"} and made simple sayings and designs.

 I love the song "Count your Blessings"!  I thought this was a fun one for a Thanksgiving theme.
 Seriously...two seconds to make!  I love this Basic Grey paper, it looks like eyeballs!  I used American Crafts shiny letters.
 This is the more rustic version of thanksgiving theme.  It is old-style scrapbook design too...:)
 I LOVE this quote by President Monson, "Your Future is as Bright as your Faith".  I really and truly believe that!  The person that buys this can also add a picture to the left of the quote...optional of course.
 Not a conventional color combo for Halloween, but these picture frames had enough of an orange tint to it that I decided to try it out with the Black and White.  I love mixing black and brown.  Years ago I wouldn't even consider it...especially in fashion.
I hope this inspires you to get out your "old" stuff and transform it into some fun Holiday decor!

Halloween Love

I seriously cannot get enough of the Canvas Corp Halloween paper!  They go perfect with their basic paper lines, which makes it nice when designing.  I made this 8"x10" Chunky Canvas project that has layers of stretched canvas on it.  Then a small project to go anywhere!
For all of the info on how I made this click HERE.

See how the layers of canvases make it fun and pops out at you...maybe to scare you...:)
www.scrapbook.com has a great selection of Canvas Corp products.

Have a wonderful weekend!
I am looking forward to General Conference for my church this weekend!  {www.lds.org}
I love hearing from our Prophet, President Monson.

Altered Notebooks

So, before our BH&G trip, I was asked to make notebooks for the Canvas Corp crew that we can take notes in while we were in our meeting.  Of course, the BH&G ladies were already on top of that and had some there for us.
I bought some cheap Steno pads and covered them with Canvas Corp goodness.  More information on the products I used and instructions are HERE and HERE.
These are great for custom presents for a teacher, neighbor or just for yourself!
