Mossy Landscape...Craftin' with Leslie

Leslie and I made Mossy Landscapes for seasonal centerpieces today!
We bought old frames at the flea market, my frame is 12"x 20".
We used our 40% off coupon for the moss.  All you have to do is hot glue the moss on.  Items like seashells, nests, pumpkins, ornaments, maybe a gnome and so on will be changed out during the year!

Leslie made one with the frame on the left and she will be doing the same thing with the frame that is on the top of this picture {old cabinet door}.  She is going to paint it black first.  When she finishes that one I will for sure get a picture of it to share!
I love it when Junk has Potential! :)
I found a little styrofoam "L" and "R" for Leslie and I to cover with the leftover moss.
My "L" looks like a sasquatch, but I still Love it!
Leslie found this huge flower at Dollar General for $1.  It is probably 6" in diameter.  The local flea market sales copies of vintage pictures like this one that she put in the middle!
I told Leslie that since she didn't want to start a blog {for now} that I will have to do a weekly feature of all of the amazing things that she has decorated in her house called "Leslie's Creations" or something like that.  Did I mention that before I knew Leslie that I used to drive by her house {because it is on the main road in our area} and when she had her windows open I would look in while driving by.  I knew that she had amazing taste before we ended up being BFF or BCF {best craftin' friends}!  I am sure that it freaks her out to think I was her "peeping jenn"!  hee hee!  So, for the past 7 years we have been having fun and it also helps that our families love each other too!

Spring Wreath...made with PaperTowels!!

Leslie and I had so much fun making this project.  It took us 3 separate days to finish because of time and nap schedules.  It seriously was so easy and I would like to call it a "Free Spirit" kind of project because we didn't really worry about everything matching perfectly!

Our inspiration came from Nicole over at Made By Nicole Blog {click here to go to her tutorial}, at the end of this post I have a picture of her wreath that started it all!
Can You Believe they are made out of PAPERTOWELS?!!
We attached the flowers to a burlap wrapped wreath.  We used pinking shears cutting out several of the circles.  We "distressed" a lot of the pieces by wrinkling them up.  We even added some silk, tulle and fabric pieces.  We had fun going through our embellishment stash to had a little whimsy and bling!
{We used food coloring in 4 separate little bottles to color the white papertowels and coffee filters.  I think by using food coloring it came out more pastel than Nicole's vibrant colors.}
{You can click on the pictures for a bigger view}
I love how big Leslie made her flowers.  I am still trying to talk Leslie into either doing her own blog or guest blogging for me.  Help me let her know that we need to share her talents with everyone! ;)
In Leslie's bottom flower, she rolled a coffee filter that we also colored in a "tube" and then she made it into a circle to place more inside.  I really liked that one!
This is Nicole's wreath!  Thanks Nicole for sharing your talents with us!
Have a Bright Day!

What Leslie and I are up to...

Come back here tomorrow, I am hosting a FABULOUS Giveaway from Ana Paula from her GET CRAFTIN' blog.
You don't want to miss it!!

Leslie and I were inspired by a wreath made from dyed papertowels,
check out it on the Made By Nicole blog.
You will seriously freak out how beautiful it is, especially to know that it is made with papertowels!
We dyed the papertowels the other day using food coloring in little spray bottles.
I used my old Bath and Body Works body spray bottles {travel size}
We are going to try to finish it tomorrow!!  It has been a fun project so far!!!

Leslie's Creation

I just had to show off what my friend, Leslie, made.  Look at this darling headband that she made for her daughter!  I just love how she layered the paper flowers with the fabric rosettes!
She bought the fabric at Walmart!

Leslie doesn't have a blog...I need to talk her into getting one because she is amazing!  She can do anything and everything!  Isn't wonderful to have friends like that!!
Have a blissful weekend!

Nesting

Today I crafted with Leslie and we got a lot done!  We made this hanging nest {there are eggs in the bucket}.  We saw this idea somewhere and I can find our reference or I would link to it {I will update when I find it}
It was super easy to make:
1 bucket
3 types of ribbon {we also used tulle}
Excelsor filling
Tag
Leslie is really good at making bows, so she made mine.  She just attached it with hot glue to the bottom of the bucket.
After she left, I decided to make some tags to go with it.  {one for me, one for Leslie}
I used canvas as the base of the tag.  Inked the edges with black.  I had some paper that looked like grass to me... I love the little alphabet stickers by EK Success.  Then I just used a sharpie and wrote "blessings".  Super easy!!
Leslie and I were inspired by Becky's nest in her sifter.  See it here on her blog:  Beyond the Picket Fence.
This is all Leslie's creation that I had to share with y'all.
She had her mother-in-law's vintage sifter and made this beautiful nest!
Thanks Becky for inspiring us!  Now I have to go find a sifter for me!!!
Have a delightful weekend!

Jewelry Day 1

This is the first necklace that I altered today.  I think I spent less than $3.25 to make it.  The bling in the center was from a cheap adjustable ring was taken off to make it an embellishment.  It is removable so I can wear it as a "brooch" or even attach it to one of Baby K's headbands for her to wear.
Up close look.  In between the bottom layer and flowers is some tulle.  Easy...fast!!!
This pin that I added was from when I was a part of a scrapbook kit of the month from Scarlet Lime.  I miss not doing that anymore...one of these days I will sign up again.  So, there was no work or thought put into this one completely simple.
One thing that I did do to the fabric bottom piece was stiffen the fabric so that it was more sturdy.  I didn't have any official stiffener spray or starch...so, Leslie recommended using hairspray...it worked {I also dried it faster with a blow dryer}.  I pretty much soaked it, on a couple of pieces I did this process twice!
Here is Leslie at work.  Her necklace turned out FABULOUS!!!  If you notice in the bottom of this picture, she is using a clothes pin to keep the little rosette together while it was drying.
She added a little bit of tulle behind the rosettes...it looks amazing on!!!
I have more coming, so watch for it!!!
