A little Rug shopping today

So, here I am in my once a quarter blog post...
I have done several projects around the house that I need to get around to posting about, so hopefully I will be more diligent in 2013!

I took advantage of the www.rugsusa.com 65% of sale today and ordered some much needed rugs for our mostly wood floors house.  I have been looking and looking for the perfect rugs, colors and especially price.  So, I got 3 rugs for the price of 1 essentially.  Yeah!

This first one will be in our front office...I haven't decorated at all in there, so I am hoping this is a starting point!

I found this picture of the rug from the Thrifty Decor Chick blog and it sold it for me.  Her photo was more clear to me on what it looks like in a home that is being lived in.  She has so many fun decor ideas on her blog, by the way. {link}
[photo3.jpg]
Right now I am picturing this rug in our master bedroom at the foot of the bed to add some texture in there.  Who knows, it might end up in the living room...
{Homespun Chevron: LINK}
This room was designed by Kirsten Krason and I instantly knew I had to have this one also!  I love everything that Kirsten does, she has an eye for mixing colors and designs.  {link}
When I saw this rug, I knew I liked the pattern...not sure if it will go in the living room layered on top of the natural jute rug we have or if it will go somewhere else.
I couldn't find it in a designed room to give me somesort of idea like the other two.  I think it will work...just have that feelin'.

Knobs...

First of all, buying a new camera has become first priority for me now!  My camera is just not doing anything justice...it has seen better days.  I hope to say farewell to is soon, Sam has already called dibs on it.

Any suggestions on what kind of camera I should get?  I am torn between a Nikon and a Canon...

*******

Today I made my first trip to Hobby Lobby in seriously 6 months, no joke!  I can't believe that I lasted that long without going there, I guess you can say that I have saved a lot of money.

They are having their knobs on 1/2 off and the first thing I thought of was this little storage table and how it would be fun to add a little bit of color to it...

 I know that it is hard to tell, but these are turquoise knobs that are antiqued.  I fell in love instantly!
 I have been thinking of painting this piece of furniture a little lighter so that it isn't such a black hole in the room, this is a great solution for in the mean time...
 My iphone doesn't take the picture any better...lol!
Enjoy your day!

Thinking about Mantles...

Ok, sorry about these pictures...not very good one of our mantle.  The mantle actually wraps around so I have areas on both sides to decorate.  I realize that our temple picture is not the right scale, it is covering the plug-in box...just a temporary fix.

This is a "black hole" area of the living room, light doesn't make it over here very well.  I found these lamps at Marshall's last week to help lighting up the mantle.  They seemed so big at the store but almost look like dwarfs on the mantle.  I was a little worried about what Bill would think of the lamps, but he loves them because they are a really pretty blue/clear color.  I'm glad that he approved.

 I didn't realize until I put these pictures on that my lampshade is tilted...lol.  I have visions of a few years down the road painting the fireplace an off-white {to match the trim} to lighten it up and keep the mantle stained...  I don't know if Bill will go for that or not, he is totally in love with the wood, I am mixed.

I just want to share a few mantles that I love...
This one is from the talented Layla and Kevin at The Lettered Cottage.  They just posted their most recent mantle change today, it is awesome.  Click HERE.

I really love that mirror...that would really help reflect light for us on that side of the room!  A round mirror would help soften the hard edges of the fireplace.

I love how the mirror is long and the frames are lined up on both sides {I know this isn't a "mantle" but I like the design...except for the bust, not into those}.  Bill will not let me nail any holes into the wood on the fireplace, so this might have to wait until I can talk him into painting it...

I just adore this new blog I just found called: 52Mantels
I think it would be fun to really change the mantle out for every holiday...
Maybe having some kind of neutral piece that I can just change out a couple of things?

I am obsessed with Delta Girl Distressing Frames, this one below is seriously gorgeous!!
It is very LARGE, you can see compared to the Christmas tree and chair...wouldn't something like this be cool and have a mirror inside it?  Chalkboard?  Cool family picture?
more of her frames...Click HERE for her Etsy shop.
Can you see why I am obsessing...:)

Hopefully, I can figure it all out soon...it is definitely one of the first projects I need to get done!
I have way too many!
Enjoy your weekend!

Home Decor in the Works....

I have been doing a lot of online shopping for fabrics and rugs lately.  The UPS guy should deliver all of it by tomorrow...yeah!!!  I have got to get this home decorated...it is about to drive me crazy!

I have been a big fan of Anna Maria Horner's fabrics for quite some time.  I thought that she has the perfect bohemian/modern style that I was looking for Kate's room.  You will have to visit Anna Maria's website...fabulous ideas on there!  {click HERE}

One of my inspirations of getting bright and bold in Kate's room was from www.BelleMaison23.com.  She has some amazing photography of home decor.  I really didn't want to stick to 2-3 colors in her whole room, so I thought that a rainbow of colors would be perfect for her and her FiReCraCker personality.

So, for the Master Bedroom...I wanted to stick with the calming palette, something not too girlie for Bill.  I have seen this ikat pattern around the internet and I keep coming back to it, so it was meant to be.  The greek design on the right helps bring in the modern vibe I am wanting also.  You can click on the pictures and it will take you to fabric.com.

Maybe it is because I am from the South...but I love MONOGRAMMING!!!  You bet that I will have some pillows monogrammed in our new bedroom.  This picture is from the fabulous Emily A. Clark's home...her blog is HERE.  I am also searching for a starburst mirror....

Bill and I went to a Consignment Furniture place in town looking for bookcases...we didn't find any, but we found a dresser and nightstand for me that will match Bill's nightstand.  He told me that he will paint it for me {and he always says that he would rather chew broken glass than paint, so I know that he meant it...}  I found this dresser on Pinterest that I want mine to be painted like...

www.RugsUSA.com was really good to me on Memorial day...I got all of these rugs for 60% off and free shipping.  The natural rugs are 8'x10' and the stripe one is 5'x8'.
The one on the left is for the living room, stripe is for upstairs playroom {future Utah State room} and the bottom one is for the dining room.  All for under $400...can you believe that!!!! Yeah!!!

Hopefully I will have more pictures of everything in a couple of days...so excited!!
Enjoy your day!!

It is been a long time...again

Ok, y'all...
Seriously, I am alive and well!
School ends for 2 of my dudes today and then hopefully my Homeschool Dude will be done either today or tomorrow.
Ready for summer...or am I???

I still do not have anything on my walls...nothing new to show in my home.  I do have one set of curtains done, I need to take pictures soon.  I really need someone to hold my hand to decorate my house!  I don't know why it is being so overwhelming to me...  I have been Pinning my Heart out on Pinterest {follow me!!} with so many wonderful ideas and now I will just have to go for it.  I am hoping that this summer will give me the time to focus on making these walls into our home.  We do not have any big vacations planned...more of a stay-cation summer.
 {We now have wood blinds -no more tablecloth curtains-, new gutters and a fence...so I guess you can say that I have been doing a few things around the house.}

Here are a couple of pictures of projects that I have made for Canvas Corp, just to have at least something happening on my blog.

I would love to be more creative when wrapping presents for loved ones instead of my ol' stand-by of a bag with tissue...which is great...but I would love to get something like these:  {I wouldn't care if the box was empty even...I just like the wrapping!}

This morning Sam saw his name on this box and started to open it...he was sad to find out it was just a fake present...poor guy!!  He should get something for me using his name on it, right!!
 I love cardmaking...do you want to know the main reason why I do?  They are quick and instant creating that doesn't take hours to do!!!  I just love all of the Canvas Corp products!

Coral and Navy = Delish!

Enjoy your day!!

A little peek...

We have officially been in our home for a month now and I still haven't hung a thing.  I am having a hard time committing to putting holes in the walls.  My decor from the previous house is having a hard time telling me where to go...

When we first moved in, my parents helped put suspension rods with my tableclothes on them to at least have some windows have privacy.  The blinds guy came over yesterday to measure...sticker shock!!!  We are not putting blinds in this big window in the Living Room, Dining Room and Office.  I want plantation shutters for the office {front window} and dining room.  That will be waiting for another day...

  For the eat-in kitchen I am just going to make valances on the three windows.  I am thinking of trying to make roman shades for the door window on the right in the picture.
 This is the fabric that I bought for the kitchen area.  When I saw it, I just fell in love with it...it is pricey for my budget but I figured that I needed the least yardage in that area. {via Mary Jo's fabric click HERE}
 This is the fabric for the curtains in the Living Room...another love at first sight for me.  I think that it will help add color in there with so much tan/browns going on. {via Fabric.com, click HERE for details} It was a better price point to order 9 yards to be able to make the curtains.  I just use hem tape and do an iron-on hem for the curtains, one of these days I will learn to really sew something...it is on my bucket list!
 Just another view, it is a pretty open space...

Any ideas for this niche in the wall between the dining room and kitchen?  I was thinking of finding a quadrifoil stencil or some kind of geometric design and adding some color there.  Bill and I are not in the mood to paint the whole house.  The tan is just fine for the next 10 years...:)

 Hopefully I can start on some projects soon...still working on organizing my craft room to do projects.  Things are starting to get back to a routine, thankfully!

Enjoy your day!

Why I have been M.I.A...

I can't believe that it has been over 2 months since I have posted a thing!  Well, the reason why is because we are moving and had to get our house ready to sell, holidays, hubby started a new job, I started homeschooling one of my boys, working, 4 kids and etc. maintaining chaos really!

These are pictures of our current house {we close next week}.
I purged like no other, I sold a lot at the flea market.
I got compliments from the inspector and the appraisal guys how they loved how the house was decorated and it showed nice, pat on the back.  Lots of sweat and tears to get it in tip top shape.  I am still having tears because my 2 year old thinks it is cool to write on everything, thank you Magic Eraser for existing!!

Entryway:  Beadboard with a picture ledge, idea from the Lettered Cottage.

Love this pop of color in the entryway, it has been a fun piece to have in there.

This is a stitch that I did years ago and attached it to an old window.

Fireplace area, I thought a mirror on the mantle would help the living room look bigger.
 Fabric in silver IKEA frames
 Vinyl Letter on an old window in the hallway
 No Sew curtains...
 Matching Navy/Cream in the Dining Room
Greenery!!
 Kitchen has a beadboard backsplash.
 Front Door Square Boxwood Wreath.
In the kids bathroom...simple.

We have been so blessed, I can hardly talk about it without tearing up {more tears. :)}.  We took over 5 weeks to get the house looking perfect to put on the market and it sold in 6 days!  We only had 2 showings and we found out that the other showing wanted to put an offer in after we had already signed a contract!
We are moving only 2 hours away to a wonderful, amazing city...in a different state.  Bill and I thought that we would just find a place to rent for a while and then buy later, well that wasn't the case.  Last weekend we went on a rental house hunting trip and we were so disappointed with the small & expensive selection.  We were driving around thinking that we will have to live in a cardboard box when we drove up to a new subdivision and saw a sign for an open house with 5 bedrooms/3.5...they had us at 5 bedrooms.  Needless to say, we fell in love with the house.  We had to come back home that afternoon to relieve Grandma & Papa from watching our circus, so we said that we would "sleep" on it.  The next afternoon we drove back and signed papers to buy it.  Whirlwind.  Packers/Movers will be here in 6 days, I feel like I need to do another "purging" especially since I know what our new space will look like.

A couple of new house pics:
A place waiting for some color!!!  The kitchen island will fit 5 barstools around the half-circle countertop.  That is what we call our "trough" for the little piggies.

It is pretty rustic looking, it has a Park City vibe to it that we love.
I am thinking a Rustic, Beachy theme...

 I will still work for Canvas Corp as their Social Media Manager, I have loved working for them & I am grateful that I can still work from home.  So many new and exciting things are happening with the company that I am glad to say I am a part of it!

Hopefully I will not be M.I.A. for another 2 months...I have lots of decorating that I need to do now, starting with curtains! :)
