Spring Burlap Banner

Who doesn't love a sweet Spring banner on their mantle?

This was a fun one to create...maybe it was the colors

that make me happy!

I do have to show you what I used for the grass.  I used Canvas Corp Canvas Mini Star

shape, painted it 2 different colors {DecoArt:  Avocado Dip & Hauser Light Green}. 

 Then I folded it in half and ta-da you have a piece of grass!!

This is a picture of a canvas shape before and then what it looks as grass!

 I used Bahama blue and free-handed the letters...you can stencil or do whatever for the letters.

Sweet Spring Card

First of all, Happy April Fool's Day!

Our alarm clock played a joke on us today and didn't go off...it is funny to

watch a family race around to get out the door in time.

At least everyone brushed their teeth and have their zippers up.

This is a Spring Card that I made using a lot of Canvas Corp products

{pink & white polka dot card, burlap shapes, corkstock, twine}

I am also head over heels for the House of 3 product line with

Pink Paislee.  I am totally into their fabulous look!

Canvas Corp Banner Contest is officially over and the guest judges are casting their votes.  I have been totally inspired by all of the entries...I can't wait to see who the winners are!!

Beautiful Butterflies...

One of our family's favorite movies is

A Bug's Life.

I love that part where Hemlich the large caterpillar

becomes a beautiful butterfly...with his tiny little wings.

My son watched it over & over & over again,

back when it was on VHS.  I think we went through

several tapes until we upgraded to a DVD.

This was super easy to make!

I used Canvas Corp Chunky Stretched Canvas &

Corkstock {it has an adhesive backing click here for more info}

that was cut out into butterflies

using the Accu-Cut die cutting machine.

Then I just added bling, stitching, sticker letters {fresh & happy}, punched

out bunnies {Martha Stewart punch} and etc to

make this a very spring-y project. 

 I love how anything that I hang on this old window looks perfect!

Meet Gnorman the Gnome...

Meet my newest friend

Gnorman the Gnome.

He greets our friends in our entryway.

 This is what Gnorman looked like when I first met him at HobLob.

I thought that he would fit perfect on my entry table if he was a different color.

So, blue he became...
I used Americana Bahama Blue Paint from DecoArt.

Bloom & Grow Banner

This is a banner that I made to attach to my fun little cabinet door that I

got at the flea market. 

It is sitting on my ledge in the entryway to greet our guests...

A Bird's Nest

Hey, let all of your birdie friends know that I have a

"Nest For Rent".

I really do need to find a cute bird to live in it!

A Tray full of Spring Delights

I just made this little pretty.

It just made my heart jump when I was designing with

flowers, birds, banners, spring colors...

 I used the 7 Gypsies Paper Tray...{before}

 After...

I just love that every little box has it's own personality.

 I made this circle flower using Canvas Corp's new Handmade paper...

 This butterfly was cut out using the Accu-Cut die cutting system with the

Canvas Corp Corkstock paper.

Love it!  You can even stamp on it and create a whole new effect!

 I love the dimensional look!  The Canvas Corp Burlap and Canvas

{stretched canvas frames} that are the small 2"x2" size worked in perfectly.

Spring Wreath...made with PaperTowels!!

Leslie and I had so much fun making this project.  It took us 3 separate days to finish because of time and nap schedules.  It seriously was so easy and I would like to call it a "Free Spirit" kind of project because we didn't really worry about everything matching perfectly!

Our inspiration came from Nicole over at Made By Nicole Blog {click here to go to her tutorial}, at the end of this post I have a picture of her wreath that started it all!

Can You Believe they are made out of PAPERTOWELS?!!

We attached the flowers to a burlap wrapped wreath.  We used pinking shears cutting out several of the circles.  We "distressed" a lot of the pieces by wrinkling them up.  We even added some silk, tulle and fabric pieces.  We had fun going through our embellishment stash to had a little whimsy and bling!

{We used food coloring in 4 separate little bottles to color the white papertowels and coffee filters.  I think by using food coloring it came out more pastel than Nicole's vibrant colors.}

I love how big Leslie made her flowers.  I am still trying to talk Leslie into either doing her own blog or guest blogging for me.  Help me let her know that we need to share her talents with everyone! ;)

In Leslie's bottom flower, she rolled a coffee filter that we also colored in a "tube" and then she made it into a circle to place more inside.  I really liked that one!

Nesting

Today I crafted with Leslie and we got a lot done!  We made this hanging nest {there are eggs in the bucket}.  We saw this idea somewhere and I can find our reference or I would link to it {I will update when I find it}

It was super easy to make:

1 bucket

3 types of ribbon {we also used tulle}

Excelsor filling

Tag

Leslie is really good at making bows, so she made mine.  She just attached it with hot glue to the bottom of the bucket.

After she left, I decided to make some tags to go with it.  {one for me, one for Leslie}

I used canvas as the base of the tag.  Inked the edges with black.  I had some paper that looked like grass to me... I love the little alphabet stickers by EK Success.  Then I just used a sharpie and wrote "blessings".  Super easy!!

This is all Leslie's creation that I had to share with y'all.

She had her mother-in-law's vintage sifter and made this beautiful nest!

Thanks Becky for inspiring us!  Now I have to go find a sifter for me!!!

Burlap Bird's Nest

The other day Leslie and I made a Burlap Bird's Nest.  While we were altering our jewelry and making rosettes, we thought why not make a large one for a bird's nest!  So, we made a large rosette and even added another strip of burlap to have it even bigger.

We just added the threads of burlap to the inner part of the nest.  I also put a couple of tiny pieces of tulle in random places.

The bird and eggs I had on hand.  I got the bird at Rod Works in Utah, it is actually an ornament.
I am pretty sure that I will be making more of these soon!!!  Spring hurry up and get here!!!
