YW Craft & a Magnolia Junk Teaser!!

This is one of the projects that I took to YW Girls Camp for the girls to make.

It was super easy to make.

One thing I learned for someone else to know...

I decided to only bring 1 color of paint for them to use...I chose white.

Well, Mod Podge is also white...about an hour into the craft time I noticed that the girls were dipping in both the paint and the mod podge with the same brush.

Needless to say, there were several girls who had to start over.

I then got the sharpie out and marked the brushes...Crazy!!!

Then I cut out with my CriCut machine CTR in several colors for them to add to the coaster.

I got the paper at HobLob, it was in a "book" with 160 pages...I got it 50% off for $9.95!!!

I bought these canisters at HobLob last year {of course when they were 1/2 off}.

This week the decorative knobs are 1/2 off at HobLob,

so I thought it was about time to "dress-up" the canisters!

I love how they turned out!

4th of July Craft & "Love at Home" Craft

Leslie and I made some fun front door hangings for the 4th of July.

You will have to see it on our blog:  Magnolia Junk !!

I made this hanging last week for my friend's birthday.

I just used an unfinished wood piece that I bought at HobLob for $0.85 {it was on sale}.

I used my Cricut to cut out the letters, painted and mod podged the whole thing.

I hammered in the sawtooth hanger in the back, slipped a ribbon through and there you go!

Quick and easy Birthday present!!

Pillow Collection: Made with Canvas...

I just want to share with you 3 pillow projects that I have made.

{I found the graphics for the Welcome pillow and Chandelier pillow over at The Graphics Fairy blog, you will love her free graphics that you can download!}

This is my painted canvas pillow

{I have houndstooth on the back}.

Jen, from Tatertots and Jello, Quatrefoil stencil would be great to use on a project like this.

I made a template of the diamond pattern and first used a sharpie to mark my lines.  Then I painted the lines in black...the lines are not perfect {I didn't want them to be}.

To get the most out of iron-on paper, I printed what I needed at the same time.

The "Welcome" sign is hot glued to the diamond painted canvas, of course I hot glued the ball fringe, too!

I made this for my sweet friend's {Leslie} birthday present! 

I took it to her and she hung it on her iron wreath stand. 

I thought that her initials on the bottom was a special touch for a present! 

I made the orange fringe out of PAPER!! 

I found a fun piece of scrapbook paper and cut out the shape {Sassafrass Lass}. 

Then I modge podged both sides to give it more of a shiny look & to make it a little more stiff.

I used double sided bias tape and sewed the paper inside the fold.  Super Easy!

Sew the layers together first before you sew the pillow together. 

 I had 3 layers here with the toile, initials and paper trim.

It was also my little sister Janis's birthday also! 

So, here is her present {it is late getting to her, so she will probably see it here first! :)}

You know when you have a great present for someone when you don't want to give it anyway! 

Both of these pillows did that to me!  But, I will be good and get this one in the mail to her...

The Scroll Label is from Rhonna Farrer and I just typed in

"Love at Home". 

You can have any saying you want in there!  The beauty of Photoshop, right!?

I used my 1 3/4" circle punch as a pattern to cut out the toile fabric for my homemade trim.

I also put Fray Check liquid on the edges to keep the fabric from fraying.

Just like the paper trim, sew the circles in the fold of the bias tape!  That's it!! :)

I also made her a barrett, using the rolled satin technique.  Of cource, I had to add a little bling to it!

Summer Flower Front Door

Today I have this project being featured over at Singing Three Little Birds blog, she is having a Flower Week with a lot of amazing projects...go check it out!

I was needing a summer look on our front door, I really love how it turned out!

My new favorite item to work with right at the moment is Canvas!!

TUTORIAL:

I first cut out a piece of canvas that I bought off a bolt at Hobby Lobby and applied Gesso primer on it.

Then I used the Quatrefoil stencil from Tatertots and Jello...thanks Jen for sharing it!! {click here for link}

I used Americana Paint {White Wash}& Apple Barrel {Caribbean Blue} paints.

I made a stencil of a large and small petal

{If you want the template of the petals I did,

leave me a comment with your email and I will send it to you!}. 

Then I gathered the base and used hot glue to keep the shape.

I cut 5" circle of foam core and felt {not perfect}.  Then I punched a hole in the middle for the knob screw to come through to hold the finish flower together.  Hot glue the petals around and layer the small petals on top.

I cut out about 5 circles in different sizes...not perfect again and put it in the middle.

This is a close-up picture of the finished look.  I just bought the glass knob at Lowes and added a little bling to the middle.  With scrap painted canvas, I made a little tag with rub-on letters.  I love the word BLOOM!!

It is a pretty bright flower, especially from the road.  But, everytime I am coming and going from my house...it makes me SMILE!!

You can really do this project in all different sizes! 

I know that I will be doing a lot more with painted canvas this summer!

Mossy Landscape...Craftin' with Leslie

Leslie and I made Mossy Landscapes for seasonal centerpieces today!

We bought old frames at the flea market, my frame is 12"x 20". 

We used our 40% off coupon for the moss.  All you have to do is hot glue the moss on.  Items like seashells, nests, pumpkins, ornaments, maybe a gnome and so on will be changed out during the year!

Leslie made one with the frame on the left and she will be doing the same thing with the frame that is on the top of this picture {old cabinet door}.  She is going to paint it black first.  When she finishes that one I will for sure get a picture of it to share! 

I love it when Junk has Potential! :)

I found a little styrofoam "L" and "R" for Leslie and I to cover with the leftover moss.

My "L" looks like a sasquatch, but I still Love it!

Leslie found this huge flower at Dollar General for $1.  It is probably 6" in diameter.  The local flea market sales copies of vintage pictures like this one that she put in the middle!

I told Leslie that since she didn't want to start a blog {for now} that I will have to do a weekly feature of all of the amazing things that she has decorated in her house called "Leslie's Creations" or something like that.  Did I mention that before I knew Leslie that I used to drive by her house {because it is on the main road in our area} and when she had her windows open I would look in while driving by.  I knew that she had amazing taste before we ended up being BFF or BCF {best craftin' friends}!  I am sure that it freaks her out to think I was her "peeping jenn"!  hee hee!  So, for the past 7 years we have been having fun and it also helps that our families love each other too!

My Peonies...& a Headband

My Peonies just bloomed in my front landscape area!  I planted the bulbs 2 years ago and they finally grew!  I am in love with them!  We had nasty winds yesterday so I tied it to a wooden dowel to make it sturdy.

My Silver and Gold Satin Flower...I attached a brooch to the back so I can wear it on my shirt or jacket also.  I just hot glued a little grosgrain ribbon to my headband and was able to attach the flower to it that way!

I have had several people ask me how to make them.  

I will make a tutorial sometime this week on how to make them, so easy {and addicting}.

Clothes Pin Lampshade...so fun!!!

I was inspired by a Pottery Barn Lampshade {click here to see.}

I needed a lamp for my craft room and thought it would be a perfect fit!

Y'all...this was soooo easy to make!

It would be fun in your kitchen with recipes and pictures of dinners that you have made, in a kids bedroom with items that they love, in your living room with family pictures and etc.!! 

I love it when I can make something that I have all of the supplies on hand.

This is a picture of the finished product, I LOVE how it turned out!

Before Lamp Picture...I have had it forever and it was needing some TLC!

The first thing I did was spray painted the lamp and 8 clothes pins black {Krylon Black Satin Paint}.

I used Spray Adhesive {my new favorite thing!} to attach the fabric to the lampshade.  I just rolled the shade into the fabric.

Then I trimmed off the edges and attached the remaining edges to the inside.

I lined the inside with black ribbon to hide the edges of the fabric, to give it a finished look.

Then I hot glued the clothes pins to the inside of the shade.  The inspiration shade had it on the outside, but I was wanting to "hide" the pins more.

Then I just had fun adding pictures, tags, flowers and etc. to the lampshade.  The possibilities are endless.  I will be changing this out a lot!

It is so cute turned on!  I have a feeling that I will be making more of these in the future!
