Flowers for Silent Auction

I am donating this for my son's Costume Carnival Silent Auction.
The money that it makes will go directly to his classroom.
 The flower in the bottom middle section is my new favorite.
I made it with embossed felt, so it gives it a little texture!
I have a mix of brooches and barrettes, with one bobby pin.
For the display, I thought it would be nice for people to see it in a hair bow holder
that is included!
I hope that it makes some moo-lah for his teacher!!

My projects for "Super Thursday"

In our ward, we have started to have our "Super Saturday" craft day on Thursday nights.  Last year when we had it on Thursday we started at 6pm and we were cleaned up, lights out by 9:20pm.  You know how that is a huge deal when you are dealing with dozens of fun ladies doing crafts.
I am actually in Young Women's now, but the new "Enrichment" leader asked me to do a couple of flowers.
I have been trying to let the sisters know that you can make these even if you don't have little girls.  I have been "marketing" it by giving them other ideas of how to use them...on their belts, purses, boots, present toppers, brooches, and more...

With this felt flower, I just made a little template of a petal and cut out 7 petals for the base layer and 5 for the next layer.  The middle circle has clear beads that are sewn on.  You can make about 4 complete flowers on one sheet of felt.
 Kate has finally started getting hair on top {she has mostly had a "party in the back" kind of hair}.  She was so busy when I was taking these pictures.
Have a Beautiful Monday!!

What I've been up to, besides being a mom of 4...

I have been a slacker again about posting.  I have been crazy busy with every aspect of my life, I know that all of you can understand completely! :)
Leslie and I had a booth at a consignment sale with my sister and sister-in-law.
We made an assortment of hair accessories.
This is what didn't sale and is now for sale at our local flea market.
We decided to do the booth about 2 weeks before, so we were in a mad rush to make over 200 items.
I told my mom that if I ever had the thought to do a booth again to knock me over my head and remind me of how stressful it is!! :)
I am trying to do what my signs says "Live Simply"!
This is my small mudroom/laundry room that is also a hallway that leads to the garage.
I was wanting something a little more wood/worn for my shelving, but until I find the perfect piece, this will do.  I bought it at Lowe's today...super easy to put together.
While I was loading the box into my cart, on the other side of the isle I spotted these fabulous metal buckets.  They were only $7 each, cheaper than a lot of the woven baskets that I was checking out.
Then, I went down the "numbers" isle by the mailboxes and grabbed these numbers.  So, each kid has a number according to their birth.  I put Kate up top because I figured that I would be reaching for her stuff right now.  I was tired of tripping over shoes and backpacks!
I look forward to having everything in its place!  Crossing fingers!
This is the before shot.  I am planning on Bill {he doesn't know yet} to put up some beadboard and rearrange the hooks for the coats...so I will have updates soon!
It is not a very big area...in my dream house I will have a separate room that is dedicated to the mudroom and laundry...I will be dreamin' for a long time!
Kate and I had a field trip to HobLob today...only to buy 1 item.
I came home with more, as always!
I have to make something festive for my front door.
I have something in mind, I hope that it turns out!
One more little Magnolia Junk item that we altered using burnt satin roses!  The picture really doesn't do it justice...it really is cute! :)
Have a fabulous weekend!

Red Barrett Tutorial

Yesterday, Baby K wore a really cute red and white gingham shirt and then I realized that she didn't have a barrett to match {she has a red bow, but it probably won't fit her until next year}.
Another quick and easy one to make, I am sure that I will make more...
Warm up your hot glue gun!!!
Cut out 3 {or more}circles about 3" in diameter {you can do whatever size you like}
Then fold it in half...
Fold it in half again. I put a little dot of hot glue to keep it this shape.
Hot Glue them together, side-by-side.
I just covered my barrett with a red ribbon.
Just hot glue the flower on the barrett.  I actually added some tulle on the side.
Have a Beautiful Easter!!!

Easter Barretts...which one should Baby K wear?

I seriously made these 2 flower barretts in about 30 min., it would have been faster but I was designing as I went.  I was wanting your input on which one Baby K should wear for Easter. {voting on the right hand side or you can leave a comment}
Barrett #1:  Felt with satin {tutorial below with a 2nd look}
or
Barrett #2:  Satin {"burnt edges" style}
This is her simple little dress that I found at TJ Maxx for $20 {great deal for a Ralph Lauren}.
With 3 brothers, I thought this was a perfect match for pictures with them...
A little tutorial on how to make the flowers out of whatever fabric you want.  Here I used felt to make a petal as my base for Barrett #1.
