Spring Banner Wall Hanging

I made this wall hanging using Canvas Corp's 18"x18" Burlap Stretched Canvas, a perfect size for designing with the Canvas shapes.

For the scalloped border, I cut the bottom half of a Canvas mini heart shape and attached it all around to frame the pennants.

The great thing about this project is that each pennant can have is its own personality.

The key is to add layers of product for the dimension factor!

You can't go wrong with a tiny pennant on a pennant!

Front Door Decor: St. Patrick's Day

I just finished my front door decor for St. Patty's Day!

I am lovin' the Green...that means we are

closer to Spring {and green grass!}

I started by using Canvas Corp canvas heart mini shapes.

Easy fit for a 4 leaf clover!

I used gold glitter to cover it first and then I

used Jacquard Paints {see bottom} for the Emerald Green.

I love it when I can use items that I have on hand.

I used the green streamers from last years St. Patty's banner {see here}

Then I used the green ribbon from my Christmas ornaments {see here}

  I cut a stem shape out of burlap and painted it with green.

The green houndstooth paper is actually tissue paper from HobLob that I mounted on foam core board {10"x10" size}.

I then mounted that piece to a Canvas Corp black and white stripe scrapbook paper that I made

more sturdy by attaching it to some chipboard.

 It was the first time that I used Jacquard Paints {lumiere} and I love it!  Great stuff!!

Front Door...Love

For my Valentine's Day front door decor, I went simple...

This is a Love sign that I bought at HobLob and decided to hang in on the front door.

Last year I had it hanging on my mantle on a wreath.

Sometimes it is just good to have a project that doesn't take anytime to do! :)

Grateful Front Door Decor...made from a Charger!!!

Yesterday I happened to look down and see my Thanksgiving chargers

 that I have and instantly envisioned it to be on my front door! 

Even though I had tons to do yesterday

{we have Young Women in Excellence tomorrow...

hopefully I will have pictures of that up soon!},

I whipped this one together fairly quick.

Another super easy project! 

I also love it when I have everything on hand

 and no "quick" trips to HobLob!

The gold actually "glows" from down the street. 

I am sure my neighbors are wondering what the heck

I have on my front door!

 Gathering stuff...

 I was able to "MacGyver" how the plate is hung from the back using a brooch pin.

{The Best DIY Halloween Decor

I finally made my Halloween Front Door Decor today when Kate was taking a nap.

I really like how it turned out, even though it wasn't what I was planning on doing in the first place.

I have other plans up my sleeve with using that fun Orange with white polka dot fabric!!

The middle of the bat is from a card that I made years ago and I just "repurposed" it. 

It says "Happy Haunting" with orange bling around it.

I printed off the bat from Graphics Fairy.  She has some fabulous Halloween Pictures to download!

I traced my patterns onto my trusty ol' foam core that I always have around.

I used a Christmas Magnet board that I have as a template for the background.  I always thought it looked like Halloween design to me. :)

4th of July Craft & "Love at Home" Craft

Leslie and I made some fun front door hangings for the 4th of July.

I made this hanging last week for my friend's birthday.

I just used an unfinished wood piece that I bought at HobLob for $0.85 {it was on sale}.

I used my Cricut to cut out the letters, painted and mod podged the whole thing.

I hammered in the sawtooth hanger in the back, slipped a ribbon through and there you go!

Quick and easy Birthday present!!

Summer Flower Front Door

Today I have this project being featured over at Singing Three Little Birds blog, she is having a Flower Week with a lot of amazing projects...go check it out!

I was needing a summer look on our front door, I really love how it turned out!

My new favorite item to work with right at the moment is Canvas!!

TUTORIAL:

I first cut out a piece of canvas that I bought off a bolt at Hobby Lobby and applied Gesso primer on it.

Then I used the Quatrefoil stencil from Tatertots and Jello...thanks Jen for sharing it!! {click here for link}

I used Americana Paint {White Wash}& Apple Barrel {Caribbean Blue} paints.

I made a stencil of a large and small petal

{If you want the template of the petals I did,

leave me a comment with your email and I will send it to you!}. 

Then I gathered the base and used hot glue to keep the shape.

I cut 5" circle of foam core and felt {not perfect}.  Then I punched a hole in the middle for the knob screw to come through to hold the finish flower together.  Hot glue the petals around and layer the small petals on top.

I cut out about 5 circles in different sizes...not perfect again and put it in the middle.

This is a close-up picture of the finished look.  I just bought the glass knob at Lowes and added a little bling to the middle.  With scrap painted canvas, I made a little tag with rub-on letters.  I love the word BLOOM!!

It is a pretty bright flower, especially from the road.  But, everytime I am coming and going from my house...it makes me SMILE!!

You can really do this project in all different sizes! 

I know that I will be doing a lot more with painted canvas this summer!

Lucky "L" on my front door...

I just took my rose heart off of my front door and made this today...

My Lucky L Door Decor.

It also helps that our Last Name starts with an "L", so I can use this a lot during the year!

I used a scrap piece of foam core and cut it to a 8"x10" size.

To cover the rough edges, I just hot glued ribbon around it.

I just "plucked" the little stems off of a dogwood looking bush that I got half off at Hobby Lobby.  So, this project only cost me $4 because I had everything else on hand.

Be careful...I burned off some of my fingerprints today! ;)

You have to hold the stems down for a moment or it will not dry flat.

I had an extra picture frame hook from a previous project and just hot glued it to the back.

The "bush" had bright and dark colored stems, so I made sure that I alternated them.

I am pretty sure that either Pottery Barn or Ballard Designs had something like this.

My 12 year old son helped me figure out how to get the "L" to be straight.  I told him that I was proud that he could figure out a craft and he said, "Well, I have to learn to figure things out because I am going to be an architect when I grow up"...I can't wait for him to design my dream house...

Up close look at the tag.  I seriously made this in under a minute because the flower was premade & I just wrote "lucky" on the tag...easy, easy!  With my craft stuff semi-organized I found everything fast...Yeah!
