Tommy's Birthday...

Our little Tommy's Birthday Party was on Saturday.
It was so much fun...
I made this Birthday banner to hang on the wall behind him when he blew out the candles.
{it is still hanging up because I like it so much!}

I used Canvas Corp Papers and Canvas Triangles.
The Me and My Big Ideas stick boys always reminded me of my boys.
The triangles that spell out his name are actually placed inside a
triangle cellophane bags that I got at HobLob in the gift wrapping section.
So, it adds a little bit of shine...
Party Favor Bags...
Simple lunch sacks that I wrote their names on
and added the Me & My Big Ideas Stickers to.
Tommy has always been obsessed with Mustaches.
So, I thought it would be fun to have a Mustache party.
I went to HobLob and bought some Felt with a sticker backing.
Martha Stewart has Mustache Templates {click here}.
{you can see one of them on the DVD player}

I just had to laugh that the kids were using their mustaches as
unibrows, chest hair, rats tails, chops...you name it they did it!
We even had "Attach the Mustache" game like Pin the tail on the Donkey.

Front Door...Love

For my Valentine's Day front door decor, I went simple...
This is a Love sign that I bought at HobLob and decided to hang in on the front door.
Last year I had it hanging on my mantle on a wreath.
Sometimes it is just good to have a project that doesn't take anytime to do! :)
Here is the link to how I made the Burlap Covered Frame {click here}
Have a fabulous weekend!

Flowers for a Friend...

Have you ever made something and
 love it so much that you don't want to give it away?
I will be good this time and give them to my friend for her birthday. ;)
She had requested for me to make these for her big, gray felt purse.
The red felt is embossed, it adds a nice texture.
Here is a link to the tutorial for the felt flowers...click here.
The fun green and white polka dot paper is from the Canvas Corp's new Bright paperline.

Valentine's Day Countdown Calendar

This is a fun way to celebrate and add decor for Valentine's Day by having a countdown calender.  It is an interactive one that has a fun saying and a gift associated with each day on the back.  In this picture it shows on that day that the saying was
"I'm Nuts about You", so you give your Valentine nuts.

I made this by using all Canvas Corp products. {18"x18" burlap frame, red clothespins, twine, canvas shapes, paper, corkstock, mini clothespins}
Attach the clothespins to the edge of the burlap, have the canvas shapes with the paper and corkstock mod podged on hanging by a mini clothespin.
For the top, cut the paper 4"x12" and fold like an accordian and form into a half circle.
Print off numbers and the banner using your computer, or you can use stickers.
Optional:  use a brown ink pad and ink the edges for a vintage look.

{that is an 18"x18" Burlap Frame...love that size!}
{Canvas Corp sells thin sheets of Corkstock!  You can stamp on it, mod podge over it...anything you want!}

Enjoy your weekend!

Valentine's Decor--Entry Table

I got out my Valentine's Day Decor today that I made from last year.
I am sure that I will be adding to this as the days go by!
Looking at this picture, I need to put something on my ledge above the banner!

For Christmas, Bill's parents gave us this picture of the
that we were married in 14 years ago!  Love it!!
 This is a lamp that I bought at Goodwill and spray painted it black.
I covered the lampshade with burlap last spring{click here for the tutorial}.
It needed a little color, so I attached a large barrett to it
 Easy, Easy!
 I got this glass bird container for Christmas from my sweet in-laws!
 I love it!
I just dumped some red pom-poms in it for color...and warm fuzzies!
 This is a banner that I made last year out of burlap.
It was on my banner last year, but it found its way over to the Entryway this year!
Enjoy your day!

Hanging Magnetic Board...Mixed Media

This was my first attempt at doing Mixed Media Art.
I have been inspired by Christy Thomlinson and her amazing creations {click here to her blog}

This project is a canvas covered magnetic board from Canvas Corp
The magnetic board came from their Make Memo line, they come framed.

 The flowers are the magnets.
The black part of the rook is Canvas Corp's product called Chalkstock.
You can use chalk on it!
This project definitely stretched my design process...it took a while,
but I think it turned out fun!
Canvas Corp Products that I used:
Make Memo magnetic board, 12x12 canvas page, cork circles,
Chalkstock, Corkstock, Paper, Burlap Shapes, Clothespins, Metal hanger.
Have a fabulous Monday!!

Hanging Pillow

This was a random project that I did using Canvas Corp products {CC}.
How I did this Project:
  • The CC Large Square Canvas Shape is two pieces sewn together, very handy for this project!  {All of their shapes in Canvas and Burlap -Large & Small- are two pieces!}
  • I took out some of the stitching in the bottom.
  • Stitched the saying "Bienvenue" {welcome in French}.
  • I also took out a little bit of the stitching on the top to put the ribbons in and stitched that in place.
  • Then I stuffed the Canvas, stitched it shut and added the black stitching around the edge.
  • I added the CC Small Burlap Rectangle Shape under the felt flower {Click here for tutorial} and rosette to add another layer of texture to the project!  I attached 3 Pearls to the rosette.
  • I would recommend using Fray Check on the edges to help the canvas from losing threads!
Super Easy...Great Gift Idea!!

Another Clothespin Lampshade...

This is a lampshade that I designed for Canvas Corp's Catalog.
I will have to alter my 2 lampshades in our bedroom later {click here to see this post for what it used to look like}.
I really like the contrast with the burlap against my canvas headboard.
I love that you can add pictures, change them for the season and etc!
The Canvas Corp Products I used were:  Burlap, Clothespins, Small Burlap Square Shape and a Large Canvas Tag Shape.

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a delightful Christmas and overall Holiday Season!  My family and I enjoyed every minute of it!

I have been needing to post for a very long time, I can't believe that it has been a month since my last post!  I have had some opportunities come up for me to work for an amazing company!  I am now working for Canvas Corp. as a designer and online media manager.  When I received my first bags of product to design projects for CHA, I was seriously in heaven!!  Their basic line has everything to do with Canvas and Burlap...my 2 favorite fabrics to design with, plus a whole lot more.  You will be seeing a lot of their products on my blog from here on out!

Here is one of the projects I did for their catalog:
This is actually a pillow form that I had not stuffed yet.  I hot glued the clothespins on the pillow, so I could change out the pictures on the pillow at anytime.  The Canvas Corp products that I used:  Large square burlap shape, small pennant burlap shape, black & white paper, large & small clothespins.  Once I matted the picture, I used Matte Mod Podge to make it more durable to be out on a bench or chair.

Enjoy!!
